Cartier Tank Prices in Bangkok by Model — September 2026
The Tank is the rectangular watch Louis Cartier designed in 1917, and it is still made today in several lines: from the steel Tank Must, many people's first Cartier, up to the gold Tank Louis Cartier and Tank Américaine. Prices run several times apart. The table below is what we expect a good example with box and papers to clear for in Bangkok.

How Much Is a Cartier Tank Must in 2026?
The Tank Must is the Tank Bangkok buyers ask about most: a common first Cartier and a popular gift for women and for men with smaller wrists. On our reference page, a full-set 2022–2023 Tank Must WSTA0042 sits around ฿112,000. A 2021 example without its box is at the bottom of the range, near ฿95,000; barely-worn examples reach about ฿135,000.
The current Tank Must came back in 2021 after years out of the lineup. Before you buy or sell, know which version you have: standard quartz, light-powered SolarBeat, or the XL automatic. They look alike from the front but trade at different prices, so always check the reference on the caseback before settling on a number.
Which Model, and Why the Prices Differ
1. Material sets the tier. The Tank Must and Tank Française are steel and fill the lower half of the table; the gold Tank Louis Cartier and Tank Américaine sit three to four times higher. Gold content is part of that value, but not all of it.
2. Movement. Most Tank Musts are quartz, which dealers tend to value lower because it resells more slowly. Gold Tank Louis Cartiers are mostly hand-wound, which collectors rate more highly.
3. Shape and strap. The Tank Française has an integrated steel bracelet, which makes it the everyday choice for anyone who doesn't want to keep replacing leather straps in Bangkok's heat and humidity. The Louis Cartier and Américaine are mostly worn on leather, so strap and buckle condition feed into the price.
4. Size. Many Tanks come in Small, Medium and Large under different references. The table covers only the sizes listed; smaller sizes usually trade lower.
For a first Cartier, the Tank Must is the best value. For a daily watch on a bracelet, pick the Tank Française. If you want the classic Tank closest to the original and plan to keep it, a gold Tank Louis Cartier is the answer.

Cartier never went through the boom and bust of the Nautilus or Royal Oak. Tank prices move slowly and have fallen little, helped by Cartier raising retail prices from time to time, which puts a floor under the pre-owned market.
What the Thai Market Cares About
A Thai boutique warranty. Tanks bought from a Cartier boutique in Thailand resell more easily, because the next owner can service them in Bangkok. Overseas warranties still sell, but buyers usually ask for a discount.
Box and papers. Because so many Tanks are bought as gifts, buyers care about the box more than you might expect. Missing box or papers clearly lowers the price.
Leather straps and servicing. Straps worn out by sweat and humidity are normal in Bangkok. Fitting a genuine new strap before selling usually costs less than the discount a buyer will ask for. On quartz models, have the battery changed at an authorised service centre so the water seal isn't compromised.
Fakes seen in Bangkok. Being affordable, the Tank Must is the most-copied Cartier. What Khun Ton checks first:
- Cabochon crown — deep blue and perfectly centred on genuine pieces; fakes are often pale or off-centre
- Roman numerals — crisply printed with even spacing
- Secret signature — many Tanks hide "Cartier" inside a numeral; its position varies by model and must match the reference
- Caseback engraving — reference and serial cleanly engraved and matching the warranty card
- Movement — an "automatic" or hand-wound Tank that opens up to reveal a cheap quartz movement is the clearest giveaway
