Why Patek Philippe Remains an Investment Case in 2026 — Just Not Every Reference
Patek Philippe has been through major correction in the pre-owned market since 2022. Nautilus 5711/1A is down about 38% from its April 2022 peak (฿6,178,000 to ฿3,800,000 in June 2026). Many investors conclude "Patek's run is over" — a wrong conclusion.
Reality: certain Patek references have passed the hype-cycle peak and have only stopped falling, not recovered, while references never part of the hype cycle — Calatrava, Annual Calendar, Twenty-4 — had no hype premium to lose. That does not mean they hold retail value: the Calatrava 5227 trades about 40% under its US retail price used.

Annual Calendar is Patek complication grade that serious collectors stay loyal to — not a "trophy watch" like Nautilus but a "lifetime piece" worn and passed down. It never carried the 2021–22 hype premium, so it has not suffered anything like the 5711/1A's ~38% drawdown.
4. Patek Philippe Twenty-4 (4910/1200A) — -3.8% YoY

- Case size: 36mm round (post-2018 redesign)

Twenty-4 ladies (round case, post-2018 — not the legacy manchette) is the Patek female collectors stay loyal to. Passes through collector cycles without overheating like Nautilus, so doesn't drag in corrections.

5712 has held value better than the 5711 — down about 31.5% from its March 2022 peak (฿5,112,000) against about 38.5% for the 5711, and roughly flat over the past year (-1.1%) — thanks to a higher complication grade, less hype-driven demand, lower market supply than Nautilus base model.
2. Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167A — -5.7% YoY

Aquanaut 5167A is "Nautilus without the drama" — it has held value better than the 5711: WatchCharts put the 5167A-001 at about 2.5 times its US$27,257 US retail price in September 2026, because:
- No near-term reference replacement: Patek hasn't announced 5167 successor (vs 5711 → 5811)
- Collector demand narrow but deep — Aquanaut buyer base more loyal than Nautilus's broader hype-driven base
- Rubber strap rather than bracelet — pre-owned buyers don't worry about bracelet condition
1. Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227G/J/R — -2.9% YoY
- Bangkok price (Oct 2026 estimate): ฿850,000–฿1,100,000 overall; medians about ฿975,000 (G white gold), ฿995,000 (J yellow gold) and ฿915,000 (R rose gold)
- Case size: 39mm
- Key: Caliber 324 S C, Officer-style case-back, lacquered dial
Calatrava 5227 is "the Patek serious collectors hold 30 years" — dress watch icon with stable collector base unaffected by Instagram hype cycle, no frequent reference replacement, "timeless" design.
Why it leads this list: demand from long-hold collectors and no downside risk from reference replacement. Know the trade-off: WatchCharts puts the 5227 about 40% under its US$47,262 US retail price, so the case for it is buying well below retail, not a watch that holds its retail value. Earlier versions of this page priced it about 1.6 times higher.
"Caution" References in 2026
Patek Nautilus 5711/1A: about 38.5% below its April 2022 peak and roughly flat over the past year (-1.6%) — the slide has stalled but not reversed, and the white-gold 5811/1G successor (~฿5.25M–฿6.45M) draws the top of Nautilus demand.
Patek Nautilus 5980/1A chronograph: from peak ฿9.5M in 2022 → ฿5.0M–฿5.55M in 2026 — sharpest correction in Nautilus family.
Patek Aquanaut 5168G white gold: good price retention (-6% YoY) but Thai supply thin — fine if you can buy well, not ideal if you need fast exit.
Patek Twenty-4 quartz (4910/10A) legacy — pre-2018: market weak. The new 4910/1200A mechanical pulled all serious collector demand away.

5. Dial finishing — Patek dials use vertical satin or horizontal embossing specific to each reference. Compare against Patek.com reference images.
